Overview
Plantr is an augmented reality (AR) garden planning app designed to make gardening smarter, more sustainable, and more social. Developed under our mock company, Rise and Design, this project reimagined the gardening experience by merging cutting-edge AR features with environmental awareness. The app allows users to visualize their gardens in real time, receive personalized plant care tips, and collaborate with others to create thriving, sustainable green spaces.
My Role & Contributions
As the UX Designer and Research Lead, I guided the user-centered design process from concept to prototype. My responsibilities included:
- Conducting user interviews with nine participants ranging from beginner to expert gardeners to identify core needs and pain points.
-Â Leading a competitive analysis of existing gardening apps to determine feature gaps and user frustrations.
- Designing wireframes and interactive prototypes that integrated AR visualization with personalized reminders and collaborative planning tools.
- Collaborating closely with the UI designer to ensure a clean, nature-inspired interface that aligned with the app’s sustainability mission.
Through iterative testing and feedback sessions, I helped refine the app’s core functionality and ensured that it met both novice and experienced gardeners’ needs.
